Vita-6 Tab

Experience the Power

Direct toxicity of INH therapy can be prevented by the administration of VITA-6
The most common toxic effects with INH are on the peripheral and central nervous system. These have been attributed to a relative pyridoxine deficiency. These toxic reactions include peripheral neuritis, insomnia, restlessness, muscle twitching, urinary retention, and even convulsions and psychotic episodes. Most of these complications can be prevented by the administration of pyridoxine and accidental INH overdose can be treated with pyridoxine in amounts equivalent to the INH ingested

Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy can be treated with VITA-6
Vitamin B6 has also been administered in the management of severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy.

Composition
Each tablet contains Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) 50mg

Physiological Functions
As a coenzyme, pyridoxal phosphate is involved in several metabolic transformations of amino acids, including decarboxylation, transamination and racemization, as well as in enzymatic steps in the metabolism of sulphur-containing an hydroxyl amino acids. Vitamin B6 is involved in the metabolism of tryptophan. Vitamin B6 is involved in the conversion of methionine and cysteine.

Presentation
Blister Pack of 20 tablets.

Indications
Adjuvant therapy in tuberculostatic patients. Proved beneficial in correcting the sideroblastic anaemias. Acts as an antidote for the seizures and acidosis in patients who have ingested an overdose isoniazid.

Peripheral neuritis due to any harmful substance or drug. Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Pharmacokinetics
Pyridoxine, Pyridoxal and pyridoxamine are readily absorbed from Gastrointestinal tract following oral administration and are converted to the active forms of pyridoxal phosphate. They are stored mainly in the liver where there is oxidation to 4-pyridoxic acid and other inactive metabolites, which are excreted in urine. Pyridoxine crosses the placenta and also appears in breast milk.

Contraindications
